Founded in 1818 on the initiative of the Duke Élie Decazes, then Minister of the Interior and a native of the region, the museum occupies the second floor of the town hall, a building originally dating from the 15th century. Its rooms present European painting from the 14th to the 20th century, including works by Rubens and Cranach.
