Benedictine abbey founded in 1079 by Gérard de Corbie, a major waypoint on the pilgrim routes to Santiago de Compostela and listed for that role as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1998. Ruined since the 19th century, it preserves its Romanesque chevet and more than eighty carved capitals, one of the richest ensembles of Romanesque sculpture in the Gironde.
