Museum founded in 1819 at the initiative of the mayor, the Marquis de Montgrand, and the prefect de Villeneuve-Bargemon. It has occupied the right wing of the Palais Longchamp, built by the architect Henri-Jacques Espérandieu, since 1869, where it displays its zoology, palaeontology and botany collections.
