Museum opened in 1895 at the initiative of the Society for the Study of the Natural Sciences of Nîmes and the Gard, set around a cloister and a listed 17th-century chapel. Its galleries cover local prehistory, geology, zoology and ethnography, the last still shown in its 1930s display.
