Built in the 12th century to house the relics of Saint Lazarus, brought to Autun in 972, Autun Cathedral is renowned for its west tympanum of the Last Judgement, carved by Gislebertus and signed "Gislebertus hoc fecit". Its treasury, housed in a building erected around 1520 by Bishop Jacques Hurault, brings together reliquaries, gold and silver work and liturgical vestments, dispersed during the Revolution and rebuilt as a collection in the 19th century.
