Opened in 1866 in a former neoclassical drawing school, this museum has borne the name of Dominique Vivant Denon, a native of the region and the Louvre's first director, since 1908. It combines French, Italian and Flemish paintings from the 16th to the 19th century with rich archaeological collections recovered from the Saône.
