Benedictine abbey in San Benigno Canavese founded in 1003 by William of Volpiano, a monk and architect active in the Cluniac reform movement across Piedmont and France. Its Romanesque bell tower and floor mosaics with geometric and animal motifs survive from around 1100, while the church itself was rebuilt between 1770 and 1776 in a Baroque-Neoclassical style, to designs credited to Vittone and Quarini, after the medieval building was demolished.
