Archaeological area of Carsulae, a Roman town that grew up along the Via Flaminia, laid out by the censor Gaius Flaminius around 220 BC, and developed into a full municipium during the Augustan age. Visible remains include the paved road with its cart ruts, the forum with twin temples, a theatre and amphitheatre, the three-arched Arch of San Damiano, a basilica and baths; the town was gradually abandoned after an earthquake in the 5th-6th century.
