Archaeological area and antiquarium of Veleia, a settlement of the Ligurian Veleiates that became a Roman municipium in 49 BC and prospered thanks to its thermal springs despite lying off the main trade routes. Rediscovered in 1747 with the finding of the bronze Tabula Alimentaria Traianea, a record of welfare loans granted by Trajan, the site has been excavated since 1760 to reveal the forum, a basilica, houses, a theatre and baths, with finds displayed in the on-site antiquarium.
