Baroque palace in Genoa built between 1643 and 1650 for the Balbi family and later enlarged by the Durazzo family, whose Hall of Mirrors, designed by Carlo Fontana and decorated by Domenico Parodi, is its best-known interior; it passed to the House of Savoy in 1824 and to the Italian state in 1919. Now a museum, it displays more than 200 paintings, including works by Van Dyck, Tintoretto and Luca Giordano, and is part of the UNESCO-listed Strade Nuove and the System of the Palazzi dei Rolli.
