Archaeological park on a hilltop near Gioia del Colle preserving a fortified settlement of the ancient Peucetians, inhabited from the 10th century BCE and enclosed from the late 4th century BCE by defensive walls that separated an acropolis from the lower town. Excavated from 1929 by Michele Gervasio and resumed in the 1960s, the site flourished during the Hellenistic period before its occupation faded under Roman rule.
