State museum and archaeological park at Cosa, a Latin colony founded around 273 BC on a hilltop above the Tyrrhenian coast near Orbetello, excavated from 1948 by the American Academy in Rome. Opened in 1981, the museum stands within the colony's walls over the Casa del Tesoro and displays ceramics, sculpture, coins from Cosa's own mint, inscriptions, and finds from the town's port and necropolis.
