Archaeological museum in Arezzo housed in a former Olivetan monastery beside the remains of the city's Roman amphitheatre, named after Gaius Maecenas, the Augustan-age patron of the arts who was born in ancient Arretium. Its collection is renowned for Aretine terra sigillata, the fine red-gloss pottery produced in the city in the first century BCE.
