Castle and archaeological museum in Manfredonia, begun in 1279 under Charles I of Anjou and enlarged by the Aragonese around 1442 with cylindrical corner towers. Since 1968 it has housed the Museo Archeologico Nazionale, known above all for its collection of Daunian stelae, carved limestone slabs from the Iron Age necropolises of the Gargano and Tavoliere.
