Roman theatre at Gubbio, built in the Augustan period between about 55 and 27 BC, with a cavea that could seat around 6,000 spectators. Excavated from the 15th century onward, with campaigns sponsored by the Gabrielli counts in the 16th century, it preserves its arcaded lower level, part of the upper arcades, and the stage building. A small antiquarium nearby, set in a former Roman house with mosaic floors, displays pre-Roman and Roman finds from the town.
