Archaeological park at Minturno preserving Minturnae, a Roman colony founded in 295 BC on the right bank of the Garigliano, on the Via Appia. Visible remains include a theatre built to seat over 4,000 spectators, the forum, an eleven-kilometre aqueduct and a macellum, complemented nearby by the Ponte Real Ferdinando, an iron chain suspension bridge built in 1828-1832 by the engineer Luigi Giura, among the first of its kind in Italy.
