The only surviving remnant of the royal abbey of Saint-Corneille, founded in 876 by Charles the Bald and where Hugh Capet was recognised as king in 987: the 14th-century Gothic cloister, spared by the demolitions begun in 1806. It displays sculptures and lapidary fragments from the abbey and from monuments across Compiègne.
