Institute born in 1998 from the merger of the Nouveau Musée, created in 1978 by Jean-Louis Maubant, and the Rhône-Alpes regional collection of contemporary art. Both an art centre and a public collection, it holds nearly 1,750 works — by Alighiero Boetti, Daniel Buren, Yona Friedman — circulated throughout the region.
