A vast mansion in Vieux-Lyon rebuilt in the 16th century and bought in 1545 by the Gadagne family, Florentine bankers whose wealth became proverbial; it was listed as a historic monument in 1920. The mansion brings together the Lyon History Museum, opened in 1921, and the Museum of Puppetry Arts, founded in 1950 around the character of Guignol.
