The museum occupies the Hôtel de Lalande, a mansion built in 1778 for a councillor of the Parlement of Bordeaux. Created in 1924, it displays 18th- and 19th-century furniture and wood panelling, silverware, and Bordeaux porcelain and faience, and broadened its scope to contemporary design in 2013.
