Benedictine abbey near Castiglione a Casauria, founded in 871 by Emperor Louis II as a votive offering and dedicated to Pope Clement I, whose relics it received the following year, making it a major pilgrimage site. Its Romanesque-Gothic facade, completed under Abbot Leonate between 1156 and 1182, has a bronze door of 72 panels and sculpted portals narrating the abbey's foundation, above a crypt of nine naves built with reused Roman materials.
