Terraced garden commissioned in 1538 by Duke Cosimo I de' Medici from the architect Niccolò Tribolo, one of the earliest and most influential examples of the Italian garden and a forerunner of the Boboli Gardens. It preserves the Mannerist Grotta degli Animali and citrus collections cultivated since Medici times, and was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list in 2013.
