State museum in the former Dominican convent of San Marco, rebuilt for Cosimo de' Medici by architect Michelozzo between 1439 and 1444 and opened as a museum in 1869. It preserves the largest collection of works by Fra Angelico, including 44 frescoed monastic cells, alongside paintings by Fra Bartolomeo and Mariotto Albertinelli and a library of 115 illuminated manuscripts.
