Medici villa on the hills above Florence, acquired in 1568 by Cardinal Ferdinando de' Medici and transformed around a medieval castle tower into a country residence, with a courtyard later covered by a glass roof and decorated with frescoes celebrating the Medici dynasty. Its formal Italian garden, with terraces, fountains and a large fishpond, survives largely intact, and the villa was inscribed with the other Medici residences on the UNESCO World Heritage list in 2013.
