National Palaeolithic museum in Isernia, housed in the former monastic complex of Santa Maria delle Monache, dedicated to the nearby Isernia La Pineta site discovered in 1978. The exhibition displays stone tools, animal remains and a reconstruction of the prehistoric landscape from one of Europe's most important early human sites, where a hominin milk tooth dated to around 583,000 years ago was found.
