The most important religious and political centre of the Samnite Pentri people, built on an artificial terrace on the slopes of Monte Saraceno between the 2nd century BCE and 95 BCE. Its theatre-temple complex, an entirely Italic architectural conception combining a theatre with a temple dedicated to deities such as Honos and Virtus, reflects the wealth and vitality of the Samnite world before the Social War.
