National archaeological museum of the Marche region, founded in 1863 and installed since 1958 in the 16th-century Palazzo Ferretti, whose monumental staircase was designed by Luigi Vanvitelli. Its holdings centre on the Picene civilisation of the 9th-4th centuries BC, alongside Greek, Gallic and Roman material and a numismatic collection of some 90,000 coins.
