National archaeological museum of Mantua, occupying the late-19th-century Mercato dei Bozzoli, a former silk-cocoon market built on the site of the Gonzaga court theatre and given to the state with its original wooden roof trusses preserved. Its collection spans the Neolithic through the Renaissance and includes the 'Lovers of Valdaro,' a pair of Neolithic skeletons found embraced in a 2007 excavation and on display since 2011.
