Museum in Florence's oldest public building, begun in 1255 as the seat of the chief magistrate and later used as a prison before opening as a sculpture museum in 1865. Its collection is centred on Renaissance sculpture, with key works by Donatello, Verrocchio and a young Michelangelo.
