Archaeological park and museum uniting the Greek cities of Paestum, founded around 600 BC by colonists from Sybaris, and Velia, better known as the birthplace of the Eleatic school of philosophy founded by Parmenides. Paestum preserves three of the best-conserved Doric temples outside Greece, and its museum holds the Tomb of the Diver, the only known Greek painted tomb from the 5th century BC.
