The largest villa on the Via Appia Antica, built in the early 2nd century AD and later owned by the brothers Sextus Quintilius Condianus and Sextus Quintilius Maximus, both consuls in 151 AD. After the emperor Commodus had them executed in 182-183 AD, the estate was confiscated and became an imperial property; excavations have revealed its baths, cisterns and a large nymphaeum, alongside the medieval farmhouse of Santa Maria Nova.
