Roman theatre built in the late 1st or early 2nd century CE, probably under Trajan, and inaugurated by the emperor Hadrian in 126 CE according to a dedicatory inscription; a second inscription indicates further work completed under Caracalla. With a diameter of around 90 metres, it could seat up to 15,000 spectators and remains one of the largest Roman theatres in southern Italy.
