Bell tower rising above the cloth hall on Bruges's market square, begun after an initial wooden tower burned in 1280 and completed with its octagonal white-stone upper stage in Brabantine Gothic style between 1482 and 1486. Standing 83 metres tall and leaning slightly, it is climbed via 366 steps and houses a 47-bell carillon cast by Joris Dumery after a 1741 fire.
