National archaeological museum dedicated to the Veneto-Roman settlement of Altino, first opened in 1960 and rehoused in 2015 in a converted 19th-century rice mill designed by architect Stefano Filippi, with an observation tower over the Venetian lagoon. Its more than 40,000 objects span the 8th century BC to the 5th century AD and include prehistoric wooden artefacts, Roman glass and horse burial equipment.
