National archaeological museum founded in 1887 and housed in the former 18th-century convent of San Pasquale di Baylon, holding one of the largest collections of Magna Graecia material, including the celebrated 'Ori di Taranto' gold jewellery. A major renovation between 2000 and 2007 was followed by the 2016 reopening of the second floor and, in 2023, the return of the Orpheus and Sirens sculptural group after fifty years abroad.
