Roman villa in the Sabine hills at Licenza, identified with the country estate given to the poet Horace by his patron Maecenas around 33-32 BCE, which the poet celebrated in his verse as a peaceful refuge from Rome. The site, pinpointed in the 17th century by the scholar Lucas Holstenius, preserves a large porticoed garden and mosaic floors, and finds are displayed in the adjoining Museo Oraziano.
